SHINee (샤이니, stylized as SHINee, pronounced as Shiny) is a South Korean Boy Band formed by SM Entertainment, which has already released some of the popular groups in the Kpop scene likeTVXQ, Super Junior and Girls' Generation

INY releases new album "Shake it it, shake it"

New girl group INY has just released the MV for their debut single, “Shake It! Shake It!“.  Previously, we shared that the MV would be about the girls pushing their way through the difficult circumstances with their hopes and dreams to become singers, and true to their word, INY’s new video does just that.

True Colors For Women Of Colour

Women of color have often felt ignored by cosmetics companies. Many ethnic women have had trouble finding foundation and makeup colors that are flattering . African-American women usually have sensitive, oily skin that scars easily. Products that are powdery can look ashy and chalky on darker complexions, and pink pigmented products are unflattering to ethnic skintones.

   In the beginning, there was Fashion Fair. Founded in 1973 and aimed at African-American and Carribean women, it offered darker colors, not available at the time. It is still around, and can be purchased at a handful of stores across the country. The line seems a bit old-fashioned to me. There is a skincare line that includes bleaching cream and oil reduction products. Color choices are conservative, and I could not find a product with a sunscreen (we should all wear sunscreen) . Still, it is a no-frills line for dark- skinned women. www.fashionfair.com.

   In 1994, fashion model Iman, tired of mixing her own colors and formulas, started her own cosmetics line. I-man is geared to all women of color, and it really succeeds in its goal. It is a line with multi-cultural appeal, and no unnecessary products. She has pared it down to a wonderful range of essentials.

   The products are creamy, and blend well. I like the pressed powder, which leaves a dewy finish. The skincare line is excellent. I recommend Hydrator SPF 15, and Drench, a rich but light moisturizer. Both are $35.00.

   Iman has two websites. www.i-man.com is her personal site with info about the products, and her makeup philosophy. It projects the image of a funky urban drama queen, fitting for the wife of David Bowie. Her line can be purchased at www.imanbeauty.com, a very user-friendly site with descriptions of all the items, and easy checkout. I-man is also available at most JC Penney�s.

   For women who want a large line with many flattering color options, I suggest Nars, and MAC. Nars has dark lipsticks in lovely shades of brown and burgundy. Nars is available at www.neimanmarcus.com and at major department stores. At the MAC shop I visited recently, there was a lovely dark-skinned makeup artist, with her brushes in a large tool belt around her waist. She was willing to take the time to assist customers with their choices, and she knew the line well. MAC uses women of color as models. Go to www.maccosmetics.com for store locations.

   I am a multi-racial woman. I am not Asian, but with my very yellow undertones, I find that Shiseido works well for me. I have always been drawn to the dramatic palettes and unique products. I have been wearing makeup since I was 13, and when I want color, Shiseido has never let me down. Find Shiseido products at most major department stores.

   Women of color now have more options, as companies realize the potential of a powerful consumer base. Ideally, cosmetics companies should consider the ethnic market. Most women are willing to pay for quality products and good service, especially if the products are tailored to her needs. A woman of color wants to feel welcome at the cosmetics counter. Consultants should be aware of her needs, and the company should feature ethnic faces in their advertising.

Girls Generation

Girls’ Generation is one of South Korea’s most popular female pop groups. They’re also popular across Asia with hit songs like Gee, Genie and Oh etc.

The group is often referred to as Soshi or SNSD by international fans – abbreviation of their Korean name So Nyeo Shi Dae (소녀시대, or So Nyuh Shi Dae). The nine members of Girls’ Generation are Hyoyeon, Jessica, Seohyun, Sooyoung, Sunny, Taeyeon, Tiffany, Yoona and Yuri. Check out SNSD members profile.

SNSD officially debuted in August 2007 with single Into the New World. They released their first full album Girls Generation in November, with its second trackKissing You a hit. The album was re-released as Baby Baby in March 2008. The girls also worked in other projects, e.g. in reality shows, dramas and radios etc.

SNSD released mini-album Gee in January 2009. The title song was a mega hit, breaking various #1 records on music charts. They released their second mini-album, Tell Me Your Wish in June, which was hugely successful as well.

SNSD kicked off 2010 with their second full length album Oh! in January. It did well and became their fourth consecutive albums (including EP) to achieve 100,000 sales. A repackaged album RunDevilRunwas released in March. SNSD released their third mini-album Hoot in October, which again did well as expected.

SNSD released a Japanese version of Genie in September 2010, which marked their official debut in Japan. The single sold over 100,000 copies and reached #4 spot on Oricon weekly chart. The group released their second Japanese singleGee in October, which peaked at #2 on Oricon with over 110,000 copies sold.

Big Bang is the VIP

Big Bang is a famous korean boyband, consists of five members : G-Dragon, Tae Yang, Seung Ri, Dae Sung, T.O.P. Big Bang may be the most well knowned Korea group band after Tohoshinki.
Although their debut was somewhat successful, it was not until the release of "거짓말" ("Lies") that the group gained mainstream success. Big Bang have been noted for their music as well as their taste in fashion, becoming famous throughout the country in the process.
Big Bang also famous in Japan, as they are also releasing album in Japanese language. In 2008, "Big Bang" entered the Japanese market with their Japanese album "For The World" (a collection of previous Korean singles in addition to new song "How Gee"). A third Korean mini-album "Stand Up" was also released.
Big Bang is a complete team. The members of the band are all talented performers; from vocals and rap to dance and songwriting, Big Bang filled its debut album with music created by the members themselves. G.DRAGON and T.O.P wrote the lyrics of their debut single. All 5 members of the band will not take part in each song; each member of the band will choose the songs that best showcase their talents. G.DRAGON and T.O.P., who both excel in rap, will perform “We Belong Together” and the R&B ballad “A Tearful Fool” will be performed by Tae-yang, Dae-sung and Seung-ri.

2006: Debut and success 
Big Bang made their debut at the YG Family concert, held on August 19th, 2006 at the Gymnastics Arena in Seoul Olympic Park. The group originally consisted of six members, but one was dropped in the ninth episode of their documentary video. Originally, two were intended to be dropped, SO-1 and Seung Ri. However, only SO-1 was dropped with Seung Ri still in the group. 

Big Bang released their first single, "The First Single Album," on August 29, 2006 with the song "This Love" getting high requests among radio stations. Their second single "Big Bang is V.I.P." was released a month later on September 28, 2006. Again, it was a success. On November 22, 2006 they released their third single entitled "B I G B A N G 0 3". In December 30, 2006, Big Bang had their very first concert titled, The Real. The concert was a success, filling all 12,000+ seats. They also released a music video of their cover song from Israel "My Girl", with Tae Yang as the soloist, bringing much of the attention to him. The following month, their first album "Since 2007" was released, with a total of 110,408 copies sold.

On 2008-8-7 he opened a concert for Alicia Keys in South Korea, where he performed his 2 singles: (Prayer) and (Look only at me). According to Naver, Tae Yang’s next album will be a full album (not a mini) and is scheduled to be released in either August or September. It will be produced by YG Entertainment’s rising producer and 1Tym Member Teddy. Seungri initially joined Battle Shinhwa, a reality show aiming to find the next Shinhwa; he was rejected after the 13th episode. He later tried out for Big Bang and was successful. Seung Ri is the “little brother”, also called the “maknae”, of Big Bang. He provides dance and choreographing skills to the band’s performances. Seungri was the first member to be in a musical, starring in Sonagi. Seungri was the second member of the group to participate in solo activities, promoting his solo single “Strong Baby” which was included in the group’s second album. Seungri is also the second member to debut as an actor. He stars in the film Oorijibae Wae Watni ( “Why Did You Come To Our House”) which was released in April 2009.
